Follow along as our MLB betting expert, Nick Galaida, delivers his favorite MLB Same Game Parlay prediction for today – Friday, August 4, 2023. Friday’s MLB action featured one afternoon contest, but there is still plenty of exciting action left to get underway, including a rivalry matchup between the Houston Astros and New York Yankees.

Yesterday, we cashed a +758 parlay thanks to some timely hitting from the Los Angeles Dodgers! Not counting the All-Star Game, we have cashed six tickets in this article, narrowly missed 20 winners, and had 17 tickets seemingly dead on arrival. Playing longshot parlays each day, these results are within the parameters of what is expected. As we highlight every day, these plays have been exceptionally profitable if played as individual tickets.

In this article, we never post a ticket with shorter than +700 odds, meaning that we only need to hit once each week to be profitable. Overall, these plays are 69-56-1 (55.2%) if played as straight wagers, many of which have been significant alt-lines, even as individual tickets.

Below, we break down our favorite longshot (+760) look for August 4, focusing on today’s matchup between the Houston Astros and New York Yankees!

MLB Parlay Piece for August 4, 2023

Yordan Alvarez 3+ Total Bases (+160)

Facing right-handed pitching this season, Yordan Alvarez owns an impressive 1.001 OPS, .320 ISO, and a 175 wRC+. He has a dream matchup tonight against Luis Severino, who has a dreadful 6.97 FIP and a 2.90 WHIP against left-handed batters this year. Alvarez is one of the most feared left-handed batters in baseball and gets to face a pitcher with seemingly no answers across the platoon – do not be surprised if Alvarez leaves the yard on Friday.

Kyle Tucker 3+ Total Bases (+130)

Surprisingly, Kyle Tucker has exhibited more power against southpaws than against right-handed pitching so far in 2023. Still, Tucker has been plenty spectacular against right-handed pitching, with an .821 OPS and a 124 wRC+. Tonight, Tucker gets to face Luis Severino, who has allowed an incredulous .360 opponent batting average to left-handed hitters this year. Tucker is more than capable of landing one in the bleachers in this matchup, with a two-hit night also being a possible path to cashing here. Trust him to get the job done.

Luis Severino u5.5 Strikeouts (-148)

According to props.cash, only one of the last seven right-handed starting pitchers to face the Houston Astros have recorded more than four strikeouts. Since July 1, the Astros have the 7th-lowest strikeout rate of any team in baseball against right-handed pitching. In 12 starts this year, Luis Severino has only eclipsed this market number twice. Simply, this market number is a full number too high – include this look in today’s longshot parlay.
