MLB Same Game Parlay Today: New York Yankees vs. Atlanta Braves

What kind of performances can we expect on Tuesday from Luis Severino, Ronald Acuna Jr., and Matt Olson? Follow along as our MLB betting expert, Nick Galaida, delivers his favorite MLB Same Game Parlay prediction for today – Tuesday, August 15, 2023. On Tuesday, the MLB slate features 15 games, including one game that features Luis Severino – one of the least effective pitchers in the league across the last two months of action. When we put together parlays, we like to target games in which a lot of runs are expected to be scored. There is arguably no better situation than tonight’s matchup between Severino and the red-hot Atlanta Braves.

In the last two weeks alone, we have cashed a +758 parlay, a +837 parlay, and a +711 parlay. We nearly cashed another +940 parlay on Friday, but the Colorado Rockies blew a seventh-inning lead as +320 underdogs, losing 2-1 to the Los Angeles Dodgers. On Friday, we went 2-1 again on plus-money plays, but lost the parlay because Joey Votto didn’t collect two total bases.

Not counting the All-Star Game, we have cashed eight tickets in this article, narrowly missed 25 winners, and had 20 tickets seemingly dead on arrival. Playing longshot parlays each day, these results are within the parameters of what is expected. As we highlight every day, these plays have been exceptionally profitable if played as individual tickets.

In this article, we never post a ticket with shorter than +700 odds, meaning that we only need to hit once each week to be profitable. Overall, these plays are 88-69-1 (57.5%) if played as straight wagers, many of which have been significant alt-lines, even as individual tickets.

Below, we break down our favorite longshot (+736) look for August 15, focusing on today’s matchup between the New York Yankees and Atlanta Braves!

MLB Parlay Piece for August 15, 2023

Luis Severino u4.5 Strikeouts (-136)

Luis Severino has been unquestionably the worst starting pitcher in baseball since the beginning of July. Across his last seven trips to the mound, Severino owns a ghastly 11.71 ERA, 7.75 FIP, 2.39 WHIP, and has allowed a .398 opponent batting average. During that stretch, he has never recorded more than five strikeouts in an outing, and he has recorded four strikeouts or fewer five times. Tonight, he will have to contend with the Atlanta Braves, which rank 1st in OPS, 2nd in ISO, 8th in BB%, and 2nd in K% during the month of August against right-handed pitching. It is really difficult to see Severino having any amount of success in this matchup.

Ronald Acuna Jr. 2+ Total Bases (-145)

Ronald Acuna Jr. has absolutely destroyed right-handed pitching in 2023, to the tune of a .345 batting average, 1.007 OPS, and a 171 wRC+. He has been at his best in home games this year, collecting at least two total bases 31 times in 58 games played. In a dream matchup against the struggling Luis Severino, this is a worthwhile inclusion in today’s longshot parlay.

Matt Olson 4+ Total Bases (+200)

Let’s make one thing clear – Luis Severino has been terrible against everybody he has faced the last two months. Still, there are levels to things, and left-handed batters have shown no mercy against him. On the season, Severino owns a 7.84 FIP, 2.23 WHIP, and has allowed a .373 opponent batting average across the platoon. Severino has allowed 50 hits to left-handed batters this year, 24 of which have gone for extra bases. Of those 24 extra-base hits, 10 have been home runs. Do not be surprised if Olson leaves the yard on Tuesday evening.
