United can overcome obstacles

Manchester United travel to southern Spain needing to regain control of this tie after letting slip a 2-0 lead in the first match at Old Trafford by conceding a pair of late own goals.

Erik ten Hag’s side also lost central defender Lisandro Martinez for the rest of the season that night when he broke a metatarsal bone in his right foot, and they will be without Bruno Fernandes, who is suspended after he was controversially booked for handball in the first half.

Antony steps forward at right time

Brazil winner Antony has answered some of the questions about his performances this season in recent weeks, stepping up in the absence of the injured Marcus Rashford.

He was instrumental in Sunday’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, scoring the first goal before making the second for Diogo Dalot with a clever through-ball. And he is also enjoying playing in the Europa League, scoring important goals against Spanish sides Barcelona and Betis.

Antony had seven shots at Forest and four in the home match with Sevilla and we expect him to add to his tally of eight goals for the season in all competitions.

Antony’s international colleague Casemiro has been a revelation for United since signing from Real Madrid last summer – a player of great class who is prepared to sacrifice himself for the team.

Casemiro has two red cards and five yellows in the Premier League this season plus two yellows in the Europa League. He is familiar with Sevilla from his time in Spain and has picked up a remarkable seven yellow cards in 16 meetings with them across his career.

United need his winning mentality this evening and that could land him in the referee’s notebook.
