United can chop down Forest

The battle for the top four and the fight to avoid the drop continue on Sunday as Manchester United travel to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

The Red Devils will be determined to bounce back after letting a two-goal lead slip in the Europa League at home to Sevilla on Thursday, while Forest are solely focused on getting back to winning ways after a tough run.

While United’s disappointment about the stalemate with their Spanish visitors will still be fresh in their minds, they can take comfort that their Premier League form has been on the up.

At a crucial time in the season, the Red Devils are firmly in the mix for the top four after back-to-back league wins over Brentford and Everton.

United managed to keep clean sheets in both those games and it would be little surprise to see them make it a third in a row this weekend.

The Red Devils are coming up against familiar opposition in Forest, having already played the East Midlands outfit three times this season.

United have won all three encounters, with a 3-0 victory in the Premier League and a 5-0 aggregate success over two legs in the EFL Cup.

Having not conceded in their three meetings already this season, United are well priced at 9/5 to win to nil again this weekend at the City Ground.

Martial can strike again

With Marcus Rashford set for a spell on the sidelines through injury, United will be hoping Anthony Martial can step up in the England international’s absence.

The Frenchman has had his own setbacks with injury this season but now finds himself back in the thick of the action.

United boss Erik ten Hag has spoken of Martial’s importance to the side and he is likely to be starting up front again for the Red Devils on Sunday.

The 27-year-old has already had some joy against Forest this season after scoring in both his starts against Steve Cooper’s side.

Martial is again worth considering in the anytime goalscorer market to add to his tally against the Reds.

Expect goals and cards at the City Ground

Games between these sides have not been short on goals this season, with United winning 3-0 twice and 2-0 in their last meetings.

Over 2.5 total goals on Sunday would come as little surprise, while Forest star Brennan Johnson could well find himself in the referee’s book again this weekend.

No Forest player has picked up more yellow cards than Johnson’s six in the Premier League this season and the Wales international has cast a frustrated figure in recent weeks, with the Reds on a nine-game winless run.

Over 2.5 total goals and Johnson to be booked once again comes in at an attractive 10/1.
