Boston Red Sox vs Miami Marlins Prediction 6-29-23 MLB Picks

The Miami Marlins and the Boston Red Sox meet Thursday in MLB action from Fenway Park. This will be the finale in a three-game series. The Marlins took a blowout win in the opener, then on Wednesday Miami kept it up with a four-run victory. Check back all season long for free MLB picks at Sports Chat Place.

Miami Marlins

The Marlins scored three runs in the first inning on Tuesday in the opener and eventually powered out a 10-1 win. In the Wednesday matchup Miami scored three in the sixth on the way to a 6-2 victory.

For the starter job in the Thursday finale it’ll be Jesus Luzardo. In his 16 starts this year Luzardo is 6-5 with a 3.77 ERA and 103 Ks in 90.2 innings. In his career Luzardo is 19-23 with a 4.23 ERA in 77 games (61 starts).

Boston Red Sox

Over on the Red Sox’ side, they coughed up four runs in the eighth inning and 19 hits to the Marlins on Tuesday. In game two Boston out-hit Miami 8-7 but couldn’t cash in on much. Starter Kaleb Ort put up 2.0 innings, one earned and two hits.

It’ll be Brayan Bello in the start for the Red Sox on Thursday. Across his 12 starts this year Bello is 5-4 with a 3.27 ERA and 62 Ks in 66.0 innings. Bello is 7-12 with a 3.94 ERA in 25 career games (23 starts).

The Marlins are 6-1 in their last seven in game three of a series and 21-8 in their last 29 overall. Miami is 15-7 in their last 22 Thursday games.

Meanwhile, Boston is 80-38 in their last 118 versus the NL East and 40-19 in their last 59 at home versus a lefty starter. The over is 7-1 in Boston’s last eight Thursday games.

ANDREW’S FREE PICK

I’ll probably stay with the Sox here. We should have a nice starter matchup regardless. Bello is 2-0 in his last three outings with just four earned in 20.2 combined innings. As for Luzardo, he’s given up just two earned in his last 13.0 frames. On Wednesday Boston had one bad inning scoring-wise but the pitching staff had a tough evening overall. I like the Sox to bag a win in the finale and avoid the sweep, though.
