Czech Masters tips: Adrian Meronk to triumph in Prague

We have a decent field at the Albatross golf resort, which is close to Prague. A par 72 and 7,468 yards in length. We are at slight altitude.

The fairways are wide and exposed with strategic bunkering. The surface is a bentgrass and fescue mix. There are seven water hazards on course. The rough is ryegrass based. The greens are large and are a bentgrass surface.

A tidy long game and maximising greens in regulation appear to be the key on this course.

Temperatures have been very hot in the area, but are expected to drop over the weekend, with the chance of thunderstorms.

We have two golfers vying for favouritism this week, a seasoned pro and a new guy on the scene.

Shane Lowry tees it up and looking to find his form ahead of the Ryder cup. Lucas Aberg, the young Swedish sensation, is back from playing in the US and with a win could also play for Europe next month.

But with both at 12/1, I think that we can look for golfers who may be more value on this course.

Adrian Meronk (14/1) is a top-class driver which pays on this course. He has been on a break since The Open Championship, but if he can get off to a good start on Thursday, he will be right up there come Sunday.

Nicolai Hojgaard is another golfer over from the US, who is out to impress pre-Ryder Cup selection. His recent form has been solid, including a sixth at the Scottish Open. The course should suit his game.

At 20/1 is where we find the Challenge Tour star, Adrien Dumont De Chassart. The Belgian won on his debut on that tour and now gives it a go on the main tour.

Robert Macintyre (25/1) could do with a good week here to push for selection for Marco Simone. However, he has been a bit up and down this season and so we do not know what we will get pre-tournament.

I prefer, at the same odds, Rasmus Hojgaard. A multiple winner on tour already at his young age. Rasmus can push for a Ryder Cup place if he wins this week.

Other golfers to consider

We were with Alex Fitzpatrick last week and he finished second in Northern Ireland. This is a better field but 50/1 looks juicy each-way value.

South African Thriston Lawrence is also a multiple winner on tour. He has won at a variety of courses and I do not see why this course should not suit him. So, 60/1 looks decent each way value.

Further down the betting is Tapio Pulkkanen. The Swede has been placed here in the past two years. That being the case, odds of 125/1 look inviting.
