Tuesday tab: Vahva returns to work + 6 other graded winners

Vahva, winner of graded stakes in her last two starts, returned to the training tab Tuesday at Fair Grounds.

The 3-year-old Gun Runner filly went four furlongs in 49.6 seconds for trainers Cherie DeVaux. Vahva won the Grade 2 Raven Run last out at Keeneland, edging odds-on favorite Alva Starr, and she won the Charles Town Oaks (G3) in her start before that.

Vahva was one of seven graded-stakes winners with published works in the U.S. on Tuesday.

High Oak (Gormley), a Grade 2 winner (2021 Saratoga Special), worked four furlongs in 49.0 seconds at Belmont Park on Tuesday morning. It was the second fastest of 34 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Belmont Park. In his last start he placed second in the Bold Ruler (G3) going six furlongs on the main track at Belmont at the Big A on Oct. 27 for trainer Bill Mott.

Maryquitecontrary (First Dude), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Inside Information), worked four furlongs in 49.4 seconds at Gulfstream Park on Tuesday morning. It was the third fastest of eight works at the distance. Her previous work was 14 days ago going four furlongs at Gulfstream Park. In her last start she placed second in the Princess Rooney Invitational (G3) going seven furlongs on the main track at Gulfstream Park on Oct. 7 for trainer David Fawkes.

Silver Prospector (Declaration of War), a Grade 2 winner (2019 Kentucky Jockey Club), worked five furlongs in 1:01.0 at Fair Grounds on Tuesday morning. It was the second fastest of 13 works at the distance. His previous work was eight days ago going five furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed sixth in the Steve Sexton Mile (G3) going one mile on the main track at Lone Star Park on May 29 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

Vahva (Gun Runner), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Raven Run), worked four furlongs in 49.6 seconds at Fair Grounds on Tuesday morning. It was the 19th fastest of 43 works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she won the Raven Run (G2) going seven furlongs on the main track at Keeneland on Oct. 21 for trainer Cherie DeVaux.

Champions Dream (Justify), a Grade 3 winner (2022 Nashua), worked four furlongs in 48.4 seconds at Belmont Park on Tuesday morning. It was the fastest of 34 works at the distance. His previous work was nine days ago going four furlongs at Belmont Park. In his last start he placed sixth in an allowance race going six furlongs on the main track at Saratoga on Aug. 26 for trainer Danny Gargan.

Chateau (Flat Out), a Grade 3 winner (2021 Tom Fool Handicap), worked four furlongs in 54.0 seconds at Belmont Park on Tuesday morning. It was the slowest of 34 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed fourth in a claiming race going six furlongs on the main track at Aqueduct on Nov. 18 for trainer Rudy Rodriguez.

Second of July (Jack Milton), a Grade 3 winner (2020 Futurity), worked five furlongs in 1:00.3 at Louisiana Downs on Tuesday morning. It was the fastest of five works at the distance.
